Michael Vonesh, Divisional Technology Leader, W.L. Gore and Associates

Mike is a practicing biomedical engineer, employed by the Medical Products Division of W.L. Gore and Associates, Inc. In his current role as a Divisional Technology Leader, Mike is involved with the development and commercialization of a portfolio of endovascular products targeting the minimally-invasive treatment of cardiovascular disease. Having worked in academic medicine, at the Feinberg Cardiovascular Research Institute in Chicago, prior to joining the medical device industry, Mike maintains a strong appreciation of the unique role that biomedical engineers can play in translating technology to beneficial patient care solutions and the importance of clinician participation in this process.

Mike received a BS in bioengineering from the University of Illinois-Chicago (’86), a MSEE from the University of Arizona (’88), and a PhD in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University (’95). He is an author of over 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and an inventor of 14 issued U.S. patents. He remains active in the field of biomedical engineering as an AIMBE Fellow and a member of the Advisory Boards at the University of Iowa and Northwestern University.
